Congratulations to all the winners of the very first Empower EU Awards ceremony. It was held at Europa House on 12 November 2024 to conclude the annual Citizens Gathering, hosted by the EU Delegation and member states.

The Empower EU Awards celebrate the achievements in supporting EU citizens, youth cooperation and community champions who have made a lasting impact at a local level.

The Winners Are:

Outstanding Achievement Award: The 3 Million

Recognised for their significant contribution advocating for EU citizens rights.

The 3 Million are the largest NGO for citizens in the UK, formed in 2016 after the referendum to protect the rights of the people who have made the UK their home.

Youth Award: YEM Young European Movement UK

Recognised for empowering young people and fostering civic engagement.

YEM uses educational campaigns,debates and workshops to involve youth in EU/UK issues and encourage participation in the democratic process becoming active citizens.

Community Award: PEEC Polish Eastern Christian Family Centre

Awarded for outstanding grassroots work supporting EU citizens rights.

PEEC has been helping new migrants from Poland and eastern europe to help them settle in the UK since the charity was established in2008

Special Mention for Community Endeavour: Settled

Commended for their dedication to supporting vulnerable EU citizens.

Community Champions Settled Thank you for supporting EU citizens and their families to secure their immigration status under the EU Settlement Scheme.

The account of the Empower EU Awards ceremony makes for very heartwarming reading. So many organisations are doing so much to disable the harm of Brexit. I just felt I had to add my congratulations
