On Saturday 27th April we took Our Star to the celebrations to commemorate the 92nd anniversary of the Kinder Trespass.

Our Star is a ‘talisman’ for those in the UK who want to live in a community of nations and abide by the ideals of the European Union. A primary objective of the Our Star campaign is to initiate Forums for the Future (Citizen Assembly style forums) to encourage greater understanding, desire for and involvement in direct democracy in the UK and to establish a better understanding of the advantages of EU membership.
You can find out more on the Our Star website: ourstar.org.uk

In 2023 Our Star’s Trek was initiated at the European Parliament in Brussels in September and then Our Star travelled around the UK with civic receptions, local events and Forums for the Future discussions.
In 2024 Our Star’s trek began again in March with visits to Hereford, Bromsgrove, Oxford, and Cheltenham.
We took Our Star to the  Festival of Outdoor for All marking the 92nd anniversary of the KINDER TRESPASS to highlight the EU’s commitment to standards for clean water, environmental protection, equality of all people and citizens rights. We were joined by the European Movement Staffordshire so there was an excellent turnout of Pro-Europeans.

Our stall was opposite the Young Communists who had voted for Brexit (the EU is a capitalist entity); they did admit it hadn’t turned out well. We got some enthusiastic sign ups, sold some T shirts, and had a lot pf people who passed quickly by who were, frankly, not very interested. Our number one question is; how to get people who are concerned about the cost of living crisis, corruption in government, erosion of democracy, understaffing in the NHS, delays in supply chains etc etc to realise how leaving the EU has exacerbated all these issues?
